The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks have returned another star from the successful core of their team last season, as local talent Nate Montgomery has signed for his sixth consecutive season with the Yorkshire club.
A 5’10” guard, Montgomery at 23 years old now has considerable experience as a Sharks player in the British Basketball League. His return adds depth and experience to the team as they head into their 29th campaign in the League and the first season at the Park Community Arena developed by Canon Medical.
Montgomery is a product of the club’s youth development pathway, and spoke excitedly about his return to Sheffield:
“I am excited to be back with the Sharks. I have been with this club since I start played organised basketball, this team is family to me, and I can’t wait to continue contributing to another season. This is such an exciting time for the Sharks as they head into a new arena and a new era, I can’t wait to wear the Sharks jersey once again.”
Head Coach Atiba Lyons added:
“Nate continues to grow as a player year on year. His dedication, skill, and positive attitude are a testament to his character, both on and off the court. I am eager to see how his presence will impact the upcoming season.”
Not only is the youngster entering into another season with the Sharks as a professional player, but he is also giving back to the local community as he enters his second season as a coach within the Sharks development pathway, leading the Under-12 and Under-14 teams for the Junior Sharks.
