Scorchers re-sign GB International Andrew Lawrence

Andrew Lawrence is back from rehab and ready to go for Surrey Scorchers.

The Team GB International and Olympian, who needs little introduction to UK basketball fans, will be returning to the BBL after a season ending injury in 2021.

Whilst on his comeback Lawrence signed a short-term deal with Scorchers for the 2021-22 season. Controlling the Surrey side in the back court and driving Scorchers through the cup group stages Lawrence was finding his groove back on court.

Throughout the Cup group stages Lawrence was averaging 13 points per game, five assists, three rebounds, all whilst shooting 50% from beyond the arc.

An unfortunate blow to the squad in Newcastle where the British International exited the game with a ruptured achilles. This saw Lawrence take a different role within the squad joining the coaching staff and assisting for the remainder of the season.

“Rehab has been a long journey, but we are getting there. I am fully cleared to do everything with the team which I am excited for,” said Lawrence.

“I am really excited to be here in Surrey, I know Coach Gardner from a long time ago and I am looking forward to be playing for him and the team he has constructed this year as well.”
