Derrick Jones Jr. will join the Dallas Mavericks on a one-year deal, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Jones entered this year’s free agency upon turning down his $3.3MM player option for the 2023/24 season as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
The 26-year-old forward averaged 5.0 points and 2.4 boards last season for the Bulls in 64 games played. He is assumed to bring his athleticism and elite cutting abilities to mesh up well on the great playmaking of Luka Doncic.
Jones Jr. will occupy the 15th and last standard contract spot of the Mavericks heading to next season. The franchise had an impressive summer by being able to retain Kyrie Irving as well as acquire Grant Williams, Seth Curry and Richaun Holmes.
