Cheshire Phoenix secured an impressive 89-77 victory over the Plymouth City Patriots, who continue to battle their way out of the bottom of the standings. With Ethan Chargois and Cam Christon delivering a stellar performance, scoring a combined total of 43 points, Cheshire were crowned victorious.

First Half:
In an intense matchup between Plymouth City and Cheshire, it was the visiting Patriots who initially took off with a burst of energy.
Taylor Johnson’s remarkable play kicked things off with a fabulous move to the basket, igniting a 9-0 run for the visitors. TJ Atwood and Mason Faulkner also contributed with their buckets, establishing an early unshakeable lead.
Cam Christon, however, proved to be the spark for the Phoenix. He single-handedly registered the team’s first points and continued his impressive scoring, accumulating a total of 17 first-half points.
Despite Christon’s scoring efforts, the Plymouth trio of Atwood, Faulkner, and Johnson remained a significant threat to the hosts, pushing their team into the lead as the first half progressed.
Making it a single-point game, Cheshire’s LaQuincy Rideau served up big man Ethan Chargois for a defiant alley-oop dunk, rounding out a hotly contested first quarter, Patriots ahead, 19-20.
The second quarter witnessed a quick 4-0 run by the Phoenix, turning the game in their favour.
Skyler White, renowned for his deep-range shooting, showcased his shooting prowess, adding to Cheshire’s growing score, while Rideau continued to assist his teammates effortlessly.
As the first half concluded, Cheshire went on a tear, finishing with a dominant 10-2 run. This impressive run left Plymouth City with a challenging task to get back into the game, and at the half, Cheshire had taken the lead, 47-38
Second Half:
Cheshire struggled in the third quarter, managing only four points in the initial five minutes, while Plymouth City gained momentum, fueled by a flurry of scoring from Jules Dang Akodo.
Cheshire regrouped and turned to Christon for a crucial scoring boost as the Patriots threatened to overtake the lead. EJ Stephens’ three-pointer extended Cheshire’s advantage.
Phoenix’s single-digit lead was transformed into a double-digit advantage in the final quarter, as Maceo Jack and Christon combined forces to score five consecutive points.
Cheshire maintained their high energy level throughout the final quarter, with Rideau playing a crucial role in both the defensive and offensive aspects, tallying 10 assists with half of the period remaining.
Plymouth City put up a tenacious fight, ensuring a suspenseful contest. The trio of Atwood, Faulkner, and Johnson
led the charge for the visiting team, accounting for the majority of their points. On the defensive end, Jacob Wiley played a crucial role, swatting away three of Cheshire’s scoring attempts.
Cheshire maintained their substantial lead in the final quarter, securing a well-deserved victory in an exhilarating matchup.
Player of the Game:
Several players were strong contenders for the Player of the Game title. Rideau showcased his superb playmaking abilities, ending with a season-high of 12 assists. Yet, Cam Christon’s remarkable performance off the bench could not be faulted, as he scored 21 points, was flawless from two-point range, and contributed five rebounds in a crucial victory for the Phoenix, placing them third in the British Basketball League championship standings.
