Canadian
swingman Abdul Mohamed is set to make his debut in the British Basketball
League as he joins the Surrey Scorchers roster for the 2023/24 season.

The
26-year-old forward joins Head Coach Lloyd Gardner’s side from German Pro-A
side Bayer Giants Leverkusen, where he averaged 5.8 points per game.

Standing at
6’7’’, Surrey’s newest signing subsequently went on to play for Montana State
University in 2020 before returning to Canada to make his professional debut
with Montreal Alliance in the Canadian Elite Basketball League at the start of
2022.

On
making the move to Surrey Sports Park, Mohamed said:

“I’m very
excited and thrilled for the opportunity to continue my basketball career with
Surrey Scorchers! It’s going to be an exciting year and I’m eager to get to
work with everybody involved.”

Scorchers Head Coach Lloyd Gardner added:

“Abdul is another
versatile player to add to our front line. We are excited to have him join us. He’ll
be able to bring an offensive skill set that will complement the team we have
put together. He has an ability to shoot the ball, moves well and is an active
rebounder.”

“He will help us defensively in a variety of ways. He has already had European experience and we are hoping that he takes a step forward in his career with the Scorchers.”
