B. Braun Sheffield Sharks this morning announced the signing of Channel Banks for the upcoming 2022-23 BBL season.

The 24-year-old guard is a product of the University of Akron and has had spells with Tartu Ulikool Rock, in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League (ELBL) and BK Spisska Rytieri in the Slovakian Extraliga.

“I’m excited to come to Sheffield and experience the British Basketball League,” said Banks. “I feel like I have a great opportunity to prove myself with the Sharks.

“The team has a great history and after speaking with Head Coach Atiba Lyons it felt like the right situation for me.”

Born in from Las Vegas, Nevada, the 6’4″ Banks averaged 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds 4.4 assists during his tenure in the ELBL.

“We’re excited to have Channel on board,” added Head Coach Atiba Lyons. “He is a taller guard that will fit nicely into our system.

“This will be a big year for him to show what he can really do as a pro. We can’t wait to get started and see what he has to offer.”

Channel Banks joins newly appointed captain Rodney Glasgow Jr, Javion Ogunyemi, Marcus Delpeche, and Nate Montgomery as the fifth signing of the summer.

The Sharks take on the London Lions in the first match of the season Friday, 23rd September in Sheffield at 7:30pm LIVE on Sky Sports.

Tickets are now available from sheffieldsharks.co.uk.
