Manchester Giants roster continues to take shape as Head Coach Brian Semonian adds American rookie guard Darius McNeill to his roster for the 2023/24 British Basketball League campaign.

The 24-year-old floor general from Houston heads to Manchester after completing his final year of college eligibility with Troy University in the NCAA Division I – the same alma mater as his new teammate, Nick Stampley, who graduated from Troy the year prior.

A 6’3” guard, McNeill has proven himself throughout his NCAA career as a guard who can contribute positively to the team in numerous ways, notching his 1000th career point last season against Tennessee Tech and also leading Troy in the playmaking department on numerous occasions throughout the season.

The rookie guard heads to the Belle Vue to embark on his
professional career under the guidance of Coach Semonian and is part of a
new-look roster that the Giants hope can challenge for major honours in the
League this season.

On signing for the Giants, McNeill said:

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity to play for the Manchester Giants and to play for Coach Brian. I look forward to playing in front of all the Giants fans and seeing them at our first game on September 17.”

Giants Head Coach, Brian Semonian, added:

“Darius might be one of the most athletically explosive players I have ever worked with – the man is a human spring! His approach to training has been to learn as much as possible as he enters a new situation. His above-the-rim play, combined with his ability to shoot will no doubt be a crowd-pleaser.”
