Serbian guard Mihailo Jovičić becomes the latest name to join Gareth Murray’s growing Caledonia Gladiators roster for the 2023/24 British Basketball League and Basketball Champions League campaigns.
Born in Serbia, Jovičić adds a diverse style of play with solid European experience across Europe in Spain, Serbia, and Montenegro. The 6’3″ point guard spent his fifth professional year returning to his hometown team, SPD Radnicki Kragujevac, who play in Serbia’s second division, following time spent in the country’s top tier.
In the 2022/23 campaign, Mihailo put up an impressive 17.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 5.9 APG, which was worthy of MVP honours in the division, and a place in the All-League First Team, as he led his side to promotion.
In his youth, following a move from Serbia to Spain as a teen, Jovičić competed with Real Madrid in their academy system, also seeing some minutes with their second team in the 2014-15 season, before returning to Serbia to begin his professional career.
Following the announcement of his newest signing, Gladiators Head Coach Gareth Murray said:
“Mihailo brings a European style of basketball, along with a strong drive to improve and compete at a high level. His dedication and ambition make him a valuable asset to this team.”
