In a riveting faceoff, including a dramatic overtime period, the Caledonia Gladiators emerged triumphant over the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks earlier today, clinching the victory with a final score of 87-83.
An electrifying game that kept fans on the edge of their seats in the Gladiators’ new PlaySport arena, the visiting Sharks chalked 12 three-point shots. But forcing 16 turnovers, and a standout shooting performance by Lukas Palyza, Caledonia did just enough to remain on top.

First Half
In an exciting British Basketball League match-up, the Gladiators faced off against the Sharks in an epic Northern basketball showdown.
The Gladiators started strong with early three-pointers from Prince Onwas and Lukas Palyza, taking an 8-2 lead.
Sheffield’s Bennett Koch worked valiantly deep in the paint, battling fiercely with Caledonia’s Fahro Alihodzic.
The first quarter closed with the Gladiators narrowly leading 20-17, haunted by RJ Eytle-Rock’s timely three-pointer, which gave the Sharks added momentum.
In the second quarter, the Gladiators built a solid double-digit lead, but the Sharks quickly countered with a flurry of three-pointers in a seesaw contest.
Sheffield took the lead with Kipper Nichols’ impressive dunk but Caledonia remained in front, 35-33 at halftime, thanks to Palyza’s outstanding long-range shooting.
Second Half
Caledonia, intent on thwarting Sheffield’s second victory, emerged from halftime with a fiery determination.
Alihodzic excelled in the paint, making the most of Onwas’s accurate passes. DuBose displayed his defensive skills with a steal and a quick two-point shot, forcing the Sharks to call a timeout.
Caledonia maintained a strong grip on the game, with Patrick Whelan and Mihailo Jovičić draining more shots from beyond the arc, while Pipkins jumped through the roof to dunk for the determined Sharks team.
However, the Sharks staged a dramatic comeback in the fourth quarter, forcing overtime with a clutch three from Pipkins in the dying seconds.
Overtime
In a thrilling overtime period, the Caledonia Gladiators prevailed over the Sheffield Sharks, outscoring them 16-12.
Palyza’s remarkable shooting performance shone brightly as he delivered a crucial 11 out of Caledonia’s 16 overtime points.
A last-minute three from Sheffield teased the possibility of a second overtime period, but Caledonia were able to hold their lead down, winding up victors in an amazing match-up.
Player of the Game
It was a huge team effort by the Gladiators to keep the hungry Sharks away from taking away the game. Contributing massively in overtime was Lukas Palyza, who turned the tide, dropping 23 points, including three makes from deep, and a perfect 8/8 at the free-throw line.
