American Cameron Gooden is set to experience his rookie year in the British Basketball League with the Surrey Scorchers as he makes the move from NCAA side Utah Tech Trailblazers.
The floor general from Louisiana played for three seasons at Utah Tech, where last season he averaged 17 points per game, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds.
The 24-year-old picked
up a WAC Player of the Week during the 2021/22 season, after he poured in 22
points with six assists in a home win against Denver, and earned CSUN/Good Sam
Empire Classic all-tournaments team honours after he averaged 19.0 points in
two games.
On making the move to Surrey Sports Park, Gooden said:
“I’m blessed and very excited to join the Surrey Scorchers for my rookie year. I’m ready to get to work with my teammates and win some games!”
Scorchers Head coach, Lloyd Gardner said:
“We are delighted with the addition of Cameron. Point guard position was on that we struggled with last year. ameron has the ability to score and create opportunities for others at a high level. We will be looking for home to drive our team forward. He is a player that plays with something to prove, and we’re hoping he can do that in a Scorchers jersey.”
