The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks have announced the return of another key piece from last season’s strong second half of the season, as American guard Devearl Ramsey returns for the 2023/24 campaign.
Ramsey garnered attention last season – his first in the British Basketball League – as a high-tempo, high energy contributor on both ends of the floor for Coach Atiba Lyons’ side. The 6’1″ point guard has a wealth of experience, having attended Sierra Canyon High School in the United States, playing for the Under-16 and 17 Team USA squads (winning gold medals at two different FIBA tournaments), a three-year stint as a starter at UC Santa Barbara, and time with the Stockton Kings in the NBA G-League.
During his previous stint with the Sharks, Ramsey proved himself as a vital player in the squad, averaging around 12 points, four rebounds and two assists per game, contributing a solid field goal percentage of 41.2% and a sharp 88.5% from the free-throw line.
Speaking on his return to Yorkshire, 26-year-old Ramsey said:
“I’m excited to get back! We have some amazing returning talent and some new additions that will hopefully strengthen the Sharks from last year. The British Basketball League is full of talent, and I am excited to get back to work and contribute to the upcoming season.”
The Sharks’ Head Coach, Atiba Lyons, expressed his enthusiasm for having Ramsey back on the team, stating:
“Devearl Ramsey is a talented player whose skill set have made a significant impact on the team’s performance. We are thrilled to have him back for another season, and we believe that he will continue to be a driving force behind our success.”
