British Basketball League team, the Bristol Flyers have added American point guard CJ Jackson to their roster on a short-term deal.
The 27-year-old playmaker joins the club following a brief spell with the Leicester Riders in 2022, before spending the rest of last season with Jämtland Basket in Sweden, where he posted 10 points, five rebounds and five assists a game.
Jackson spent three years at Ohio State University during his College career, appearing 100 times for the Buckeyes and posting a career average of 10.2 points, three assists, and over three rebounds a night. As a Senior, Jackson’s college career-high came in a 25-point performance against Purdue Fort Wayne, along with six rebounds and five assists.
He went on to sign for Koping Stars in Sweden for the first two years of his professional career, where he made 62 appearances between 2019-2021, averaging 17.1 points, four rebounds and five assists per game.
This signing comes after Te’Jon Lucas suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and will be out for 6-8 weeks.
Speaking on his return to the British Basketball League, Jackson said:
“I’m excited to be here – all the guys have welcomed me from the get go and that’s all I could ask for.
“I’m ready to get going and get some games under my belt – the team is having a good year and I just want to help out in any way I can.
“Coach Kapoulas wants me to come in and be myself. He hasn’t asked me to do anything different to what I’ve done in the past – so knowing that instills confidence in me.
“As a player, we train all summer for these kinds of moments so I’m ready to do whatever it takes to win.”
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said:
“We’re really looking forward to working with CJ. He’s a talented and experienced player that we have been following for quite some time.
“He had some strong performances during his college career at Ohio State in a very competitive Big Ten conference, where he established himself as a tough player to guard with an ability to score and create for others.
“He’s followed that with some very good seasons as a pro, where he has been a prime time performer.
“Everything happened very quickly and he is joining us in a very busy period, with a number of important fixtures coming up in both the British and the European North Basketball Leagues.
