Born and raised with the club, homegrown star Corey Samuels will return to the Bristol Flyers for the 2023/24 season, committing to his third campaign with the club after coming through the Flyers’ academy programme.
The 23-year-old guard is a key part of Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas’ roster, and enjoyed a prominent role in the Flyers’ rotation last year with 11 minutes per game coming across 35 of the club’s Championship games.
Speaking on his return to the club, Samuels said:
“I can’t wait to get back to business and meet the new team. I’m looking forward to another year where we can push ourselves to a new level and I’m excited for the challenge of playing in Europe and showing what we can do on an international stage.
“It’s great to see some familiar faces return to the club and Coach always
does a great job in recruiting, so I’m looking forward
to playing with my new teammates and welcoming them into the Flyers
Family.”
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added:
“Corey is a superb role model for all the young players in our city. He plays with a lot of heart, his energy is contagious and wearing the Flyers jersey means so much to him.
“This past season he had a bigger role and we want him to build on that to continue taking more responsibility while making further improvements in his game. It’s great to be going into our first year of European competition with a homegrown player of his passion and commitment.”
Samuels becomes the sixth player to be announced to Coach Kapoulas’ 2023/24 Brtish Basketball League and European North Basketball League roster, joining Tevin Olison, Leslee Smith, Trejon Jacob, Raphell Thomas-Edwards and Kedrian Johnson.
