The energetic American guard Trejon Jacob has penned a deal to return to Bristol Flyers for the 2023/24 season, returning to the south-west for his second spell with the club having spent last season in the Finnish top flight for Lahti Basketball.
Jacob spent his rookie year with the Flyers in the 2021/22 season, averaging 15.3 points and 7 rebounds in 27 league appearances during the 2021/22 campaign. He also ranked eighth in the league for steals with 1.8 per game.
On re-signing as part of Coach Kapoulas’ 2023/24 roster, Jacob said:
“It feels amazing to come back to where it all started. Coach Kapoulas was a very big part of me starting my professional career and I owe him a lot.
“I had so much fun during my rookie season in Bristol. It felt like a home away from home. I definitely have unfinished business with the club – I saw that we finished third last season and a lot of people still doubt us.
“The program is taking it
to another level this year playing in Europe and it means a lot to me to be a
part of the first Flyers team to play on the international stage.”
Jacob spent three years at
Florida International University, making 93 total appearances across his
college career, averaging 12.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game
He scored 451 points during
his first year with the Panthers, which is the second most scored by a
sophomore in school history.
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added:
“It was a pleasure to work with Trejon during his rookie year and we look forward to working with him again this season.
“TJ knows what it means to play for our program and is ready to make up for lost time last year. He is a proven player in the league and has shown on numerous occasions that he can score in bunches and impact the game in a variety of ways.
“It’s great to welcome him back in Bristol for an exciting season ahead.”
