Surrey Scorchers last night announced the signing of 6’9″ centre Radwan Bakkali on an initial short-term deal to start the season.

As Surrey wait the arrival of two American pieces, Head Coach Lloyd Gardner recruited the former Cheshire Phoenix big Radwan into the squad.

After suiting up for Jacksonville NCAA D1 during his collegiate career, Bakkali has since played in Germany and Italy before playing out the second half of the season with Cheshire last season.

“I’ve known coach Lloyd since I was 16 years old and just getting into basketball,” said Bakkali. “To have the opportunity to play for him at the pro level is one I’m excited about.

“I think Surrey have put together a strong team that will compete and win a lot more than in recent seasons. I’m looking forward to contributing to that for as long as I’m here.”
