SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Highlanders and Royals.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS
Queens comes into Thursday’s meeting also not having played in a long stretch. The Royals’ last action came out on the west coast where they faced Washington and Gonzaga in two losses. The home court as been friendly to the Royals as the team holds a 4-1 home record compared to an 0-4 road record. The lone home loss belongs to fellow Big South member UNC Asheville, who defeated Queens 68-57 earlier this season.
Senior Adia Brisker leads the Royals with 12.2 ppg this season while also averaging 4.4 rpg which is second highest on the team. The Royals have done a good job at causing chaos on the defensive end for opponents this season with their primary four starters combining for 65 steals this season led by grad student Kasey Kidwell who has 20.
FINISH THE NONCON STRONG
This road trip will mark the final trio of nonconference matches for the Highlanders in the 2022-23 season. After the game against Queens, Radford will then also hit the road to face Furman (Dec. 18) and Clemson (Dec. 20). Each game will mark a unique road test for the Highlanders as they face a stout defense (Queens), an experienced squad coming off a Southern Conference tournament runner-up finish (Furman) and a skillful ACC opponent on a hot streak to start the season (Clemson).
INITIAL NET AND RPI RANKINGS ARE IN
Now a month into the season, the NCAA has begun to release weekly NET and RPI rankings of all 361 Division I women’s basketball programs. As of December 11th, the Highlanders rank fourth in the Big South for both RPI and the NET. In the NET rankings, which play a large role in NCAA Tournament seedings, Gardner-Webb, Campbell and High Point lead the conference in that order while UNC Asheville and Presbyterian are the closest behind the Highlanders.
