The British Basketball League is underway, and many players are starting to show their quality. However, Mason Faulkner of the Plymouth City Patriots is one of the biggest surprises of the season.
The Plymouth City Patriots were able to get their first win of the season, beating the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks in game week three. Going winless in the first three games of the season, the Patriots were finally able to play the offence they’d envisioned and beat the Sharks.
However, this win has been long coming, and even though the likes of TJ Atwood and Elvisi Dusha have shown their class to start the season, it has been the new signing Mason Faulkner who is definitely putting the league on notice.

The American Sniper
The American shooting guard who has spent five of the past six years in college in the USA, Faulkner was known by few but had showcased his ability in the past.
Arriving from the prestigious University of Louisville, Mason Faulkner was ready to stamp his name in the British Basketball League. After having stints in different colleges, Faulkner’s best tenure was at Western Carolina where he was able to show his scoring abilities, averaging just over 17 points per game in two seasons.
To start the British Basketball League season, Faulkner is picking up where he left off at Western Carolina.
In his
first three games of the season, Faulkner has scored over 20 points in every
game, averaging 21.3 points per game. To go with this though, Faulkner has shown
his all-around ability, averaging 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
Faulkner
barely sees himself behind Matt Morgan of the London Lions in the scoring
standings (Morgan is averaging 21.5), and the 25-year-old is ready to show the
league and all the fans that he is here to dominate.
His four threes made per game show his incredible shooting abilities and is helping spread the floor for the likes of Atwood and Taylor Johnson to be able to drive and dish, to allow Plymouth to play a more fluid offence. Faulkner is currently in the famous 50/40/90 club with his shooting splits at 53/48/100. This club is normally reserved for the best of shooters from all areas of the field, and Faulkner is just showing that.
The Turnaround
The Patriots
have been hanging their hats on their defence in the early stages of the
season. Being one of the league leaders in blocks and steals, their offence has
been their problem more so than their defence.
This is where Mason Faulkner is showing his incredible ability and can become a legitimate difference-maker and one of the most valuable players in the league.
If Mason
Faulkner can continue his incredible shooting, all-around guard play, and
triple-threat scoring, then this league has just found itself another star.
The
Patriots will only be adjusting to turn Faulkner into an even more premier
scorer as the season continues and Faulkner could even become a dark horse in
MVP talks by the time the season ends.
