The Toronto Raptors and center Bruno Fernando renegotiated his contract just before the season began, allowing him to secure a spot on the opening night roster under modified terms.
Originally, Fernando’s contract was set to become fully guaranteed on opening night, which would have locked in his salary immediately.
However, both parties agreed to push this guarantee date to January 10, the league-wide deadline for non-guaranteed contracts.
This adjustment reportedly made all the difference in Fernando’s ability to remain with the team.
