Originally, Fernando’s contract was set to become fully guaranteed on opening night, which would have locked in his salary immediately.
However, both parties agreed to push this guarantee date to January 10, the league-wide deadline for non-guaranteed contracts.
This adjustment reportedly made all the difference in Fernando’s ability to remain with the team.
