After a high-achieving season last year, and after numerous transfers over the spring and summer, 2022-2023 is poised to be a very interesting ACC season, indeed.

Last year eight teams made it to the NCAA Tournament, with four advancing to the Sweet 16 round, two to the Elite 8, and Louisville ascending to the Final Four.

Many of the same teams are expected to run it back this season, as five teams were named to the preseason AP Top 25. We will take a look at what I believe will be the top matchups between ACC teams to watch this season.

  1. Miami vs. Florida State

When: Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, 12 p.m. ET

Where: Donald L. Tucker Center, Tallahassee, Fla

How to watch: ACCNX

The team from Florida’s capital plays the team from Florida’s most popular city.

  1. Boston College vs. Miami

Where: Donald L. Tucker Center, Tallahassee, Fla.

How to watch: ACCN

The Seminoles and the Yellow Jackets were involved in an epic game in Jan. 2022, where the latter won in a nail-biter over the former. The Yellow Jackets lost top defensive player Lorela Cubaj, so they must figure out how to compensate for her absence.

  1. Georgia Tech vs. Boston College

When: Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

Where: Conte Forum, Chestnut Hill, MA

How to watch: RSN

Cameron Swartz transferred from Boston College to Georgia Tech, as she is a native of Marietta, Georgia. This will mark her big return to the New England region after her transfer.

  1. Deja Kelly aims to bring her explosive play back in 2022-2023. North Carolina Athletics photo.

Duke vs. No. 12 North Carolina

When: Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, 8 p.m. ET

  1. Florida State vs. No. 9 Notre Dame

When: Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, 8 p.m. ET

Where: Purcell Pavilion, South Bend, IN

How to watch: RSN

The Seminoles and the Fighting Irish face off in a matchup of two dark-horse contenders. These are both two good two-way teams with players like Olivia Miles, Maya Dodson, Morgan Jones and River Baldwin.

  1. No. 9 Notre Dame vs. No. 13 Virginia Tech

When: Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, 4 p.m. ET

Where: Cassell Coliseum, Blacksburg, VA

One of the nation’s top centers and reigning ACC Player of the Year, Elizabeth Kitley, will play against one of the nation’s top offenses. Transfer Ashley Owusu will be joining her for an inside-out game.

Where: James T. Valvano Arena at William Neal Reynolds Coliseum, Raleigh, N.C.
