The Plymouth City Patriots have announced their latest acquisition as they’ve confirmed the return of sharp-shooting British guard Joe Hart for the 2023/24 British Basketball League season.
Although a returning play from last season, Hart’s re-signing will feel like a new player to Patriots Head Coach Paul James, after Hart missed the entire 2022/23 season through injury having starred for the club during their debut campaign the previous year.
Hart made himself invaluable during the 2021/22 season, leading the team in minutes played and proving time and again to be a fantastic defender, whilst regularly coming up with the goods in clutch time, hitting big shots on numerous occasions.
Hart has had an extensive professional career and represented the Great Britain National Team as a junior. He played two full seasons in Spain in the LEB Gold and Silver, before heading for the UK and making an impact with Newcastle Eagles in 2017, before a further stint with Caledonia and a season in Germany led him to the Pavilions with the Patriots.
Reflecting on Hart’s return, Coach James said:
“Joe was incredibly valuable to me and the squad on the bench last season, but we really missed him and everything he can do on the court. Joe is consistent and we know what he can bring us. After last season he could well be like a coach on the floor for us, which will certainly be an asset. It’s going to be great to have him back on the floor.”
