British Virgin Islands International Leslee Smith has penned a new one-year deal with the Bristol Flyers, signifying the energetic big man’s fourth full season with the SGS Arena club.
Smith firsy joined the Flyers in 2016 and went on to make 55 appearances for the club between 2016-18, where he averaged 11 points and seven rebounds. He enjoyed brief spells around the League with the Sheffield Sharks and Plymouth Raiders before returning to the Flyers last season, where he posted 3.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15 minutes per game.
Following the announcement of his centre’s return, Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said:
“Leslee was able to catch up for lost time last season and did a great job in adjusting to his new role, helping our team perform at its best. He is a proven team player that will impact our frontcourt with his versatility and experience. Bristol is a second home for Leslee and we are pleased to have him back for the upcoming campaign.”
Smith brings a wealth of experience to Coach Kapoulas’ 2023/24 roster and now, ahead of his fourth season with the club, the forward is relishing the opportunity to compete in both domestically and in the European North Basketball League (ENBL) this season.
Speaking on his new contract, Smith said:
“It feels amazing to be back with the club – I love the city of Bristol, the Flyers organisation and the direction it’s heading in. Last season was a special year for the club. We had the most wins in club history and we were two possessions away from a first playoff final. We want to ride the momentum from last season and continue to build towards our ultimate goal of winning a championship.”
