Surrey Scorchers this morning announced the signing of British Guard Luke Busumbru.
Joining Jaylen Ray in the backcourt Head Coach Lloyd Gardner gives the nod to Busumbru after a successful division 1 career with Solent Kestrels.
The athletic 6’3″ guard spent the last three seasons collecting silverware with the dominant Solent Kestrels in NBL Division One winning three league and Play-off titles as well as two National Cup championships.
Busumbru’s high energy and fast paced game enabled him to be a key part of Solent’s reign averaging 14 points, six rebounds and five assists per game.
Prior to his accomplishments in Southampton, Busumbru spent his youth career in Kent at the North school before heading to the prestigious Montverde Academy in the states.
“I am really excited to be joining the scorchers program,” said Busumbru. “I had an amazing experience with Solent for the past three years, and now feel like I’m ready to make that next step.
“I got to work with Lloyd a little bit over the summer at the Hoopsfix Pro-Am and I can’t wait to get started and meet the guys on the team.”
Head Coach Gardner added, “I’m delighted to be adding Luke to the roster. He is a player that has deserved the opportunity of moving into the BBL after a stellar few season in NBL division one with Solent.
“I love the energy he brings to the teams he plays on and feel he will be valuable addition to a successful season.”
